What is a THC cartridge?
A cartridge, known in English as a cart, is a small tank with a mouthpiece and heating element. It's filled with a distillate and screwed onto a battery. When you press the button or draw on the mouthpiece, the battery heats the element and the distillate vaporises. Once the cartridge is empty, you replace it and keep the battery. That's what sets it apart from a disposable pen, where the battery and tank are fixed together.
“THC cartridge” usually refers to a cartridge filled with THC distillate. Products like that aren't freely available online in Germany. The cartridges here contain other substances.

510 thread: the right battery
Most cartridges use a standard thread, the 510 thread. Both batteries in this category have this thread and, according to the manufacturer, fit most available cartridges. The black battery has 1100 mAh, three voltage levels and a preheat function. It's charged via a screw-on micro-USB adapter. The silver battery is smaller and lighter at 380 mAh, also with three levels and a preheat function. Read the instructions before first use and let the battery cool down if it overheats.
THP420 and CBD: what's inside the cartridges
THP420 is a new cannabinoid with hardly any independent research available. The 79% in the name describes the active ingredient share according to the manufacturer. It has nothing to do with a THC content. The strains differ in aroma: Dosi Kush is described by the manufacturer as reminiscent of lemon pepper and diesel, Jealousy of plum and florals, Original Z of dark grapes and grapefruit. According to the product page, the THP420 cartridges are intended exclusively for scientific purposes and only for adults.
The CBD cartridges from Canapuff contain CBD from hemp that, according to the manufacturer, is grown in the Czech Republic. On the product page they're declared for industrial, technical and horticultural purposes. Is a THC cartridge legal in Germany?
Cannabis containing Delta-9-THC is governed by the Cannabis Act (Konsumcannabisgesetz, KCanG). It does not permit sales through online shops. Medical cannabis products are regulated by the Medical Cannabis Act (Medizinal-Cannabisgesetz, MedCanG). So a THC cartridge from a pharmacy is only available with a doctor's prescription.
Lab-made cannabinoids are covered by the New Psychoactive Substances Act (Neue-psychoaktive-Stoffe-Gesetz, NpSG), which bans entire substance groups and is regularly expanded. HHC, HHCP and THCP have been listed there since 27 June 2024. Whether THP420 will be classified similarly in future is something nobody can say for certain. There's no guarantee it will remain available long term. We only sell all products to people aged 18 and over.
What to look out for when buying a THC cartridge
- Active ingredient: Is the exact substance name stated on the product? Claims like “THC alternative” without a name don't help you.
- Share and fill volume: Percentage and millilitres show how much distillate is included. They say nothing about the effect.
- Thread: Check that both the cartridge and the battery have a 510 thread.
- Voltage: A battery with multiple levels can be adjusted to thicker or thinner distillates.
- Intended use: Read the note on the product page, it differs by product.
Storage, transport and disposal
Store cartridges in a cool, dry place away from light, as stated on the product pages. Heat makes the distillate thinner. So transport the cartridge upright to stop it leaking. Keep cartridges and batteries out of reach of children and pets. Empty batteries don't belong in household waste. Drop them off at a collection point for electronic waste or in a battery take-back box at a retailer.
