THCP: the strongest cannabinoid in the world

Since 27 June 2024, THCP has been covered by the German NpSG, so we no longer sell THCP products. Here you will find our current range with THP420, T9HC and 9H-HHC.

Looking for THCP? We no longer carry it. Since 27 June 2024, THCP has been covered by the German New Psychoactive Substances Act (NpSG), and trading and shipping it in Germany has been prohibited since then. This applies equally to THCP vapes, flowers, liquids, hash and gummies. The items on this page belong to our current range with other active compounds, such as T9HC or THP420. The substance is always stated in the product name.

What is THCP?

THCP stands for tetrahydrocannabiphorol. Italian researchers described the substance in 2019 in very small amounts in one cannabis strain. Chemically, it differs from THC mainly through a longer side chain with seven instead of five carbon atoms.

The amounts in the plant are so small that no commercial product can be obtained from them. What was sold as a THCP vape, THCP flower or THCP liquid came from the laboratory and was usually synthesised from CBD. THCP in retail was therefore a synthetically produced cannabinoid and not an industrial hemp product.

Why THCP is no longer sold

The NpSG does not name individual substances but describes groups of substances by their chemical structure. The Fifth Ordinance amending the Annex was announced on 26 June 2024 and came into force the following day. It added the group of compounds derived from 6H-benzo(c)chromen-1-ol. This covers side chains with up to twelve carbon atoms, regardless of how strongly the ring is hydrogenated. THCP, with its chain of seven carbon atoms, falls under this, as do HHC and HHC-P. You can read this in Annex 1 of the NpSG under number 2.3.

Since that date, we have removed all THCP products from our range.

What the ban means for possession and purchase

The following points reflect the text of the law and are not legal advice. For substances in Annex 1, Section 3 NpSG prohibits trading, manufacturing, bringing them into Germany, acquiring and possessing them. Section 4 makes trading, supplying to others and manufacturing or importing for resale a criminal offence. Police and customs can seize such substances and have them destroyed, even if they arrive by post from abroad. For questions about your individual case, a lawyer is the right person to contact.

Buying THCP? These are the categories we carry instead

You will find our current range in these categories. Which active compound is included, and in what share, is stated in the name of every item.

Category What you will find there
T9HC vapes, flowers, joints and aroma sticks with T9HC
HHZ vape pens, disposable vapes, flowers, hash and joints with HHZ
THC vapes disposable pens and cartridges with HHZ, T9HC or THZ
THC joint pre rolls with T9HC, T8HC, HHZ, THP420 or CBD
Canapuff vapes, cartridges, flowers and joints from the Canapuff brand

Not every strain is always in stock. And for the new cannabinoids, the following applies: there is no guarantee that they will remain permitted. The NpSG has been amended several times since 2024, most recently in January 2026.

What to watch out for with offers of THCP

THCP is still being offered, mainly through foreign shops, marketplaces and messengers. You should know these warning signs:

  • The seller calls THCP "legal", even though it has been covered by the NpSG since June 2024.
  • The product is advertised mainly on strength, without clearly naming the substance, the amount and the manufacturer.
  • There is no legal notice.
  • The goods come from abroad. Bringing them into Germany is also prohibited under Section 3 NpSG.

New abbreviations advertised as a replacement for THCP can fall under the same group of substances. Without a laboratory analysis, you do not know at the time of purchase what is really included.

THCP effects and detectability: what is known

There are hardly any reliable studies on the effects of THCP in humans. Most information online comes from advertising copy or individual reports. For this reason, we make no statements about effects or strength. There is also no simple answer for drug tests. Rapid tests are designed for THC, whether they react to THCP depends on the test, and laboratories can look specifically for the substance. After contact with psychoactive substances, you do not drive and you do not operate machinery. Our customer service team answers questions about products from our range via the contact details in the footer.

FAQs

No. Since 27 June 2024, THCP has been covered by the German New Psychoactive Substances Act. Trading, acquiring, possessing and bringing it into Germany are prohibited.

Tetrahydrocannabiphorol is a cannabinoid that was described in 2019 in very small amounts in one cannabis strain. The goods sold in retail were produced in a laboratory, usually from CBD.

The NpSG describes groups of substances by their structure. The group in Annex 1, number 2.3 covers compounds with side chains of up to twelve carbon atoms. THCP has a chain of seven carbon atoms and is therefore covered.

In retail, both are lab-made cannabinoids with a similar basic structure. THCP has a longer side chain, while HHC has a fully hydrogenated ring. Legally, both have been covered by the same group of substances in the NpSG since 27 June 2024.

Products with other cannabinoids, such as T9HC, HHZ or THP420, as vapes, flowers and joints. The active compound is stated in the product name. There is no guarantee that these substances will remain permitted.
