Medication dependence
Medication dependence often develops gradually. Many people start with prescribed drugs like painkillers, tranquilizers, or sleeping pills, without thinking about becoming dependent at first. Over time, though, a strong craving can develop, along with increasing doses or fear of stopping.
Typical signs include losing control, withdrawal symptoms during breaks, and constantly thinking about the medication. It's important to spot dependence early and not try to quit alone, but to get help from a doctor.
