When do you become an alcoholic?
You don't have to drink every day to be considered dependent on alcohol. What's important is if alcohol keeps becoming more important, you lose control over how much or how often you drink, and you keep drinking even when it's causing health or social problems.
Other typical signs are a strong craving for alcohol, withdrawal symptoms when you don't drink, or a much higher tolerance.
